If  you know who Nuvolari and Varzi were then check out this thread
http://www.racesimcentral.net/
on the Tiresmoke forums. Looks like Spirit of Heat is coming along nicely.
Who would have guessed that a simple little NASCAR game could have spawned
as many children as this. Fortuneatly there is no Old Car Raceing League to
shut down Bodin and associates on this one :)

Wish I knew though I did read a mention of Portland in the thread. Maybe
John Bodin can answer that.

I'll take a shot -

You can race all the Heat tracks there are, which include the MGI originals as well as some converted tracks from ISI's SCGT/F1
series (incl. Indy-oval & road, Road Atlanta, and others), a CPR conversion (Portland), some nice GP500 conversions (Brno, Imola,
and Mugello), as well as some scratch-built tracks by various authors (Andy Garton's growing selection of dirt ovals from his BriSCA
mod are shown in the tiresmoke thread.)  There's even an off-road track or two out there should you feel the need to go jump some
hills in your shiny new Napier-Railton. (not recommended ;-) )  No actual period tracks yet, but the way things are going...

The BHMS forum,
http://forums.bhmotorsports.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi
is a good spot to find out about what's up with Heat in general and where to find new tracks, mods, etc.

Cheers,

SB

Yes, SoH is a cracking mod, I am on the beta test team and I think
this mod will be very popular with Heat owning GPLr's. One of my
fellow test drivers likes it a lot and finds it pretty tricky to
drive. Someone well know to GPLr's with the initials GH.

Anyway, there are actually lots of great mods for Heat.
DTM, Cart, F40 Challenge, Le Mans, Brisca F1 Stockcars,
Saloon Stock Cars, Baja Beats, Dirt Heat, Trucks, 50s Pickup
Trucks, Saleen Heat, GT500s, GT40s, even Cops & Baddies
Heat :)

These aren't just visual mods the physics are very different and
very believable, many are complete "new games" with AI, new
menu's etc.

I just did an email response to someone looking for updates
and info which I've copied below.

I'd recommend picking up the Dirt Trucks or Baja Beats
and the Desert Thunder Tracks.

Not quite yet, you need the Custom Tracks Patch Here :
http://hcmotorsports.com/download.php?op=viewdownloaddetails&lid=284&...

The 1.1, 1.3 and 1.5 patches are here :
http://hcmotorsports.com/download.php?op=viewdownload&cid=16

sim-editing.com now have links to most of the current mods,
one they don't have is for "saloon stock car heat" which is
here : http://www.scracer.f2s.com/sscheat/

Most of the tracks are listed at sim-editing.com (see item
in "mod collection), or can be found here :
http://hcmotorsports.com/download.php?op=viewdownload&cid=20

Note there is a limit to the number of tracks you can run
(NH just crashes if you have too many). Not sure the exact
number but prob can onlay have 6-8 add-on tracks.

To get round this, just move the .trk files that you don't
want to run into a backup directory (they should be in your
\run or \data directory.

VERY GOOD ADVICE.

Now that sounds cool.  Anybody got an URL for the '50's pickups Heat?

Woaaaah! These pics are impressive! :-) The skinny tyres look terrible. Must
be hard as hell to drive fast!
I really look forward to this one.
Does anyone know if it's possible to buy Nascar Heat in France?
Cheers,
Cyrille

It is...LOL. Never a dull moment with a traction circle this small.
Very, very fun, though...I think it's going to be a hit. John, ben and
the guys have done a terrific job- now all we need are period-correct
tracks ;)
