a friend of mine who's been playing monza for a little while claims to
have a 1.31, thing is he's using version 1.0 of the game.

i've told him it will be slower than that but
how fast approximately is this lap time for real, is there anyway to
find out ?

I don't understand the question.

Do you mean "will his laptimes suffer by upgrading to v1.2?" -The answer is
: yes, if he set them with a lowrider setup. However, !m31s is well within
reach of "normal" setups (i.e. 3" and above). Most people I know slowed down
a little when they first started using FF too, but afterwards they quickly
regained (and even surpassed) their previous speed.

Most 1.0 hotlaps allready have been broken with 1.2, if this is because the
drivers are getting faster or
1.2 is faster/ or maybe because with the higher rideheight/softer setups the
cars have more grip
Nobody knows what's up but it doesn't looks like it makes a big difference
between the versions

I think the v1.0 times were accurate - though some level of dubiousness
due to the low height settings that were permitted.

The timing problems occured in v1.1 where (at least on my system) GPL
time was a few % slower than real time - i.e. a lap that was timed in
GPL as 1:31 might have been 1:30 if timed with a stopwatch from the
display.

There was no problem with the timing for v1.0.  The problems occurred
when it was patched with V1.1
