Indycar Demo sound & video problems

by gw » Tue, 08 Jul 2003 05:57:29

Having problems with the Indycar demo would appreciate suggestions.

1) Video is very dark at one end of the track
2) Can't hear the spotter unless the car is completely stopped. And that sux
since there are no mirrors!

thanks

Indycar Demo sound & video problems

Here are my system specs:
Video card: GeForce 3 Ti500
Sound card: SoundBlaster Audigy
OS: Win98se

Btw: I like the demo, especially since I dialed a bunch more front wing into
the car. Has a lot of potential, if my sound & video problems are gone in
the final release.  Hopefully the engine sound quality will be better, also.
Oh, and split-axis pedal controller doesn't work for me in the demo, either.

I'm very disappointed that there will be no mirrors. Official post from the
Codemaster forum: "There definitely will be no mirrors, unfortunately. This
was a design decision to ensure that we could have a full Indy grid with
reasonable frame rates on today's PCs...We could have put mirrors in, but we
would have had to reduce graphics quality somewhere else."

Someone on the design team didn't do their market analysis! I wish they
would give us the option to turn mirrors on/off instead of other graphics
options like almost every other racing sim ever released!  :(

It will be good to finally simulate the Indy500.  Now for a CART sim to run
the road courses like Laguna Seca, Burke Lakefront, etc.
