Hold both gas/brake pedals down before starting the game and release
them when you get to the main menu.

This has help some people and hopefully it will work for you.

What type of controller?

I use a logitech ... go to controllers, properties, settings, and untick
dual axis.   seems to work fine ... gives better control.
