Gpl questions???

by Patrick Dogg » Thu, 26 Aug 1999 04:00:00

Hi,

I've got a couple of questions about GPL1.1

Yesterday I encounter a bug in GPL three times in a row that I'd never
encountered before. GPL didn't count my first Lap in a race. The first time
in Kyalami and the other two times at Monza (of which one was online). Is
there something I can do about this bug. Or isn't it a bug but did I do
something wrong.

The second question is based on my first online Gpl experience that I had
yesterday. I was very proud of my track record in Monza (1:30:08) shown in
the screen with the map of the track. But after racing online, GPL imported
the track record of some guy I raced online with. Does GPL look for track
records of the other drivers every time you race online with them??

Never encountered that bug myself... you did start from the grid?

GPL records the fastest time set at ay given track, whether you or someone
else sets it. If a guy beats your 1m30s in an online race, he gets credited
with the fastest lap at that track. This is normal GPL behaviour and, sadly,
I think it's irreversible, Unless you reset the track records, in which case
you'll have to do another 1m30 to get your name back on top.

yes, I started from grid. In two of the three races I was involved in spins
and crashes but in the third I'm sure I had a clean first lap.
The Pitboard didn't show up until after lap3. And after the race the laptime
of the first lap shows : XXX.

I have the same problem about GPL not counting the first lap (offline) , not
frequently but it`s very annoying .
I think it`s a bug in GPL 1.1 , I never experienced it in 1.0.

You need to delete the "record.ini" file in the Monza folder , GPL creates a
new file the first time anyone do a lap at Monza.
To keep your track record in the future , copy the "record.ini" file in the
Monza folder(after repeating 1:30 ) and store it , if some online-Hotlapper
beat your time , just overwrite the record.ini file with your own.

Kyalami is notorious for black flags and missing lap times as is Mexico, It
makes no difference what version, Monza is pretty stable in that regard but
anything is possible at any track while racing online.

Track records are recorded while you are in a completed session and include
all competitors, online (warping included) or offline makes no difference.
