Rumours are rumours, this ones got not truth to it.
The developers of LFS have responded to an email and said:
"But to tell you some more about it now, here's a list of full version
features.
Several car categories. From simple tuned road cars to big ones, formula,
karts, buggy and ofcorse a variety of tracks to go with that; cities, kart
tracks, gp's, sand tracks, jamaican beach, etc. All with several configs for
maximum variety.
Weather effects and damage will be included.
What else to say.. oh yeah, the release date is not known yet.. it'll be
ready when it's ready.
About the sound engine, it's a self made engine simulator. So far we can
sort of simulate cylinder firings, valve clicks, simple pipe simulation,
gear wind, wind etc. But it's all to be improved over time. It's very hard
to simulate the sound of an engine perfectly. But like you say, the idea is
there.
And yes the full version will most likely allow as many multiplayer clients
as you can cope with
The bandwidth is variable, and I do not know the bandwith needed. It must be
low as we have tested it with 56k modems and it worked fine (with not TOO
much clients)
We're not sure how we will market it. Maybe separate tracks/cars for sale or
just the whole pack. That's why we have made this demo, so we can see what
ppl want."
There you go! It's an AWESOME little sim at the moment and will only get
bigger and better.
