I originally pre-ordered N2 from Sierra, via mail from a flyer they sent
offering a $29 price since I was a registered N1 owner. My order was late
(about 3 days before it hit the shelves), so I expected to receive it a
little late. Tonight, I finally called to check the status. On the first
call, the operator only said that "mail orders take 4-6 weeks" and refused
to do anything else - she didn't want to hear that this was a pre-order. I
called back later and got a different operator, and she told me that the
phone operators could not access the mail order database, so she could not
even determine if my order had been received! However, she said that the
game was in stock and could be shipped in 2 days mail via UPS, so I ordered
another copy over the phone. To my suprise, she took my order and quoted
me the same $29 price - she said my name was not even in the customer
database, so there is no way she could have known that I was a N1 owner.
Was the original "N1 owner's special offer" a crock or what? At this
point, I just want a copy of the game, and will return the second copy if
it ever shows up. I always thought Papyrus was a great company, producing
very good software, patches/updates, even letting utilities and car sets to
be distributed over the net. If this is what being bought up by Sierra has
in store, looks like Papy's days of being a first class operation are
numbered.
