SIERRA - Quit Lying to Us About Orders for N2

by Bob Chalfi » Wed, 18 Dec 1996 04:00:00

After reading many of the horror stories about ordering Nascar2 directly
from Sierra and, quite frankly, wondering if some of them were totally
fabricated, I can now unfortunately add myself to the list of people who
have been lied to by Sierra.  I don't mind being told something is on
backorder, etc., esp. if I'm getting a deal for $29 on N2 due to the
"upgrade" mailing I received, but to lie to someone is another story.

My experience mirrors what several others have posted -  namely when
checking on order status, Sierra tells you your game has shipped, and
gives you the shipped date and a UPS tracking number.  After still not
receiving the game for several more days, I call UPS to track the
shipment.  I give them the tracking # Sierra gave me and UPS tells me
that it is not a valid tracking number.  I call Sierra back to make sure
I had the tracking number right, and I did, so I ask them to further
check on my order.  The guy proceeds to re-tell me all the info I
already know, and I politely advise him as such.  So then he says, well,
we can track your order within Sierra to see if it really has been
processed and shipped, but I need your credit card number again.
BULLSHIT!  That sounds to me like he is reordering the whole thing
again.  I stopped him from doing this as Sierra has already "hit" my
VISA for the first "supposed" order (an actual charge, not an
authorization).  I'd cancel the whole thing and go pick it up at Best
Buy for $29 (it's on sale again this week at B.B., and this time for
real) but like I said, Sierra has already charged my card for the
order.  I always thought it was illegal for a company to charge your
credit card before an item is shipped.

Why, oh why, did Papyrus have to be taken over by Sierra?
