NR2002: How's the damage model??

Hey fellow simmer's,
I haven't had a chance to try the game yet, and was wondering how the
damage model is? Not really worried how the car "looks" (though I'm
interested) but more so, how the car "handles" after an accident? Can
you still win a SS race after wrinkling up the fenders?? Thanks for your
input! Mick

Seems to be pretty much spot-on to me.

Its better but not perfect. I doubt you'll win a SS race with any body
damage but I have seen AI car on their lid after a wreck and still be on the
lead lap after a pit stop. So as with every Papy release its evolution not
revolution.

Imho GPL was quite a revolution :)

But it's definitely better than N4, in that area, right? I just couldn't
stand it when I'd see cars without a hood running up front at tracks
like Michigan, or similar.. The cars being able to stay on the lead lap
after a flip doesn't bother me that much, since most flips in the game
are unrealistic anyway.. Just when they are still up to "Lead Pack"
speed, after a horrific accident is what bothered me the most.. Thanks
again, for your comments! Mick

Yes, much better. You get serious damage, you will not run up front or even
close.

Not only that, but after a big wreck at daytona (caused by the ai, by
the way, which was nice) most of the cars involved in the wreck
retired from the race.  In N4 they could run 190mph into the wall head
on and still be on the lead lap at the drop of the green flag.  When I
have hit the wall, it didn't take much of an impact for my hood to be
the only thing visible out the front windsheild.  So I would say that
it is definetly much better.

Damn hard to keep from killing your motor as well when in "the big one"
