T2 & N2 HELP!

by Clay Zahrobsk » Tue, 22 Jul 1997 04:00:00

I have a T2 and N2 under Windows 95B and can not get the wheel to work!
I have set the wheel up under the Control Panel via the T2 instructions
[Custom/2Axes/4Button/etc]. When I go into N2 and goto options and
select wheel. I can set any of the menu items. They all immediately goto
Joy Stick 2, X-Axis. Any ideas? Suggestions? Did I miss something!

aha! I am not the only one with this problem :) I only just figured
out how to fix it myself today - i think. If i take out the adapter
plug for my T2, then the pedals go on the joystick 2 X axis, so i
calibrate joystick 1 and 2 and then everything is fine (I don't
bother configuring through the win95 joystick, that's not needed?).
I am going to try putting the adapter plug back in tonight though,
and see if i can get it to work with the pedals on the joystick 1
Y axis, by calibrating the joystick 2 first, which should have no
inputs attached, and therefore, N2 will realise that there is nothing
to pay attention to, and i hope that it will stop getting the
joystick 2 X axis problem in setting controls.... well, that's
my theory anyway.

hmmm enough rambling:)
I hope that helps in some way!

That would fine and dandy to try but my T2 model doesn't have the
converter. T2's WEB page offers no help. I am still trying to figure out
if it is the wheel or just something else I am not doing.

Question #1:  Do you happen to know the manufacture date of your T2?
Later models don't require the adaptor and are actually 1 axes not 2.

Question #2:  Can you get it to work with N2 in a pure DOS environment?

Question #3:  Have you patched N2 through all patch levels?  The latest
patch attempts to fix similar problems.

I have the later version....no adapter.

Right now I don't have pure DOS environment to try.

Yes.

Okay, I've done a little more research and this could be the solution to
your problem.  I haven't had the chance to try it out yet, but....

Basically the y1 axis in the Win95 control panel is limited to a center
value of 600. Soooo, if your device has values from 700 to 1000 on the
y1 axis, Win95 can't give it a center value and it fails to see the
device. ProPanel fixes this.

Here is the blurb from Thrustmaster's page on ProPanel
(http://www.racesimcentral.net/)
ThrustMaster has developed and made available an exciting new utility
called the "ProPanel". The ProPanel is an alternative to the Windows 95
Control Panel and therefore is only useful to users calibrating their TM
devices in Windows 95.

We are primarily providing the ProPanel for our driving wheel customers,
however the ProPanel will work with all of TM's *** devices. Here is
the latest release of the ProPanel available for download at
ThrustMaster's FTP site in Hillsboro, Oregon.
