T2 pedals and N2 - help please

by dalan » Sun, 15 Dec 1996 04:00:00

Ok gang,
I can calibrate the wheel just fine.  When I select the brake or
the accel, I am then asked to "brake"  so I push the brake and
nothing happens.  I have tried this with joystick and then again
with wheel selected.  I can assign a keyboard key to accel and brake
and the wheel works fine.  Its just the pedals that don't respond.
I have a T2, so if anyone could help I'd be grateful.

P.S.  The wheel and pedals work fine in N1.

Thanks

Hi!

Dunno how N2 works but are u using the litle adaptor that came with your
T2?

This thingie changes the pedals from beeing the hotizontal accis of joy
2 to beeing the vertikal accis of joy 1  - I think...

Maybe this willl help.

One suggestion.  Try calibrating joysticks first (bottom left of the
setup screen).  Does the routine see your gas/brake as joystick 2?  If
so you can use gas/brake as joystick 2 in the top calibration portion,
otherwise change the setting to the joystick # that was read by the
bottom joystick calibration tests.

A buddy of mine had the same problem.  If you're not using the pass through
adapter that Thrustmaster shipped with the T-2, then the pedals should be
calibrated using joystick 2.  If you are using the adapter, then calibrate
the wheel and the pedals at joystick 1.  If you aren't using the adapter
and it won't calibrate using joy 2, then *use* the adapter, and try it
using joy 1.

Try calibrating the T-2 first, then assign the controls. Make sure you
are calibrating on the joystick 1 option and not on joystick 2.

Hope this helps, I have a T-2 and it works fine with the pedals in N2

I am having a problem with the pedals also. The wheel works fine, but
both in ICR2 and N2, the pedals seem to calibrate as the same thing (ie,
the same joystick axis). This either gives me one gas pedal and one
pedal that gives slight acceleration with brakes coming when both pedals
are released, or two gas pedals with brakes when pedals are released.
This occurs with and without the adapter. I'm not using the ACM game
card but am thinking about buying it if it would help me solve this
problem. I tried many different ways to calibrate and none of them
worked correctly in either program.

Any help would be appreciated,
Kevin Earls

thanks for replying, I have the adaptor in place.  I copied the
control.cfg file from N1 to N2.  This at least allowed the game to
understand the brake and accel were going to be on joy1.  The problem
is that I still cannot get the calibration to work.  So of course
when I enter into the game the brakes and accel do not respond.
I have tried running the .exe instead of the .bat to launch the
program but get the same results.  At the moment the best I can do
is use the wheel and use the keyboard to brake and accel.  which
sucks.   :(

If anyone else has any ideas, please let me know.

I had the exact same problem.  After a few hours of screwing around I
deleated the game and reinstalled it and it worked fine. FWIW

Both pedals are on the same axis.  Are you calibrating them by fully
depressing one, releasing it FULLY, then depress the other, and release it
FULLY?  The calibration gauge (?) should go be centered without pressing
either pedal, and go to one extreme when you press the throttle, and the
other extreme for brake.  BTW, I am NOT using a game card, and have 3
buddies who are also running Nascar 2 who don't use game cards either.

e-mail me if you need more assistance.

If you are using the adapter that came with the T2 make sure you click
on calibrate joystick 2 even though you are not using it. Just click
on calibrate joystick 2 and then hit enter and then calibrate joystick
1. It works great fo me after this little exercise. Good Lauck Dave K.

Mike try checking as to what your controls are set for in the control area.
Your pedals my work but you might have gas assigned to the space bar or
something weird like that.

My last post here must have been voodoo. Now my T-2 pedals have
stopped working. They worjked just fine right from the get go, then
POOF nothing. I can still set the calibration and asign the steering
fine but pedals no longer work.

Any ideas out there?

The routine or calibrating doesn't see my gas/brake at all.  The only
way my setup sees the brake/gas as joystick one is because I copied
the control.cfg from N1 to N2.  Otherwise the setup will not acknowledge
the gas/brake when, in setup mode, I am asked to "brake".

I tried to copy the calib.??? from N1 to N2 and the all I got was
full gas when I went to race.  I have sent a note to Tech support and
was told because of the holidays they are 4 days behind

I don't know if this will work with N2, but used to help out in NASCAR1.
. .  Try deleting the control.cfg file in the NASCAR2 file and then
reconfigure everything from scratch.

You might also have to delete the calib.val file.

Make backups before you delete just in case!
