Racing Wheel & Pedals for N2 - Some questions, please help me choose.

I'm looking to buy a racing wheel with pedals for N2.  I've seen
some talk about the T2 and the new Thrustmaster Nascar Pro wheel, as
well as the wheel / pedals from CH.  I'm not going to try to build my
own as some have done.  Are there other choices out there as well?
What wheel / pedal system is best for Nascar 2?  Obviously I want
comfort, durability and control.

I currently have the Thrustmaster Grand Prix wheel.  It seems to be ok
but I'm getting some shoulder / arm pain from holding down the throttle
with my hand.  Also I have to drive with the steering assist ON.  It is
impossible to even drive in a straight line with it off.  Steering assist
can be annoying at times, so I'd like to turn it off.  This may not be
the wheels fault, I'm using a SB 16's joystick port.  I'm getting a new
computer so if after testing the wheel with the new system, I'll get a
gamecard if need be.

Any help or links you can give me with finding the right wheel would be
appreciated.

If you want a great wheel take a look at www.interactiveracing.com.
The F1sim as it's known now is a fantastic wheel, All steel, no
plastic , 10"real steering wheel, paddles for gears, and the pedals
are solid and customisable to suit your style. And it sets up under a
standard 2 axis 4 button joystick under windows 95, therefore no
config problems.

I previously (and still own) a T2, as for your last words: comfort,
DURABILITY, CONTROL go for a TSW, it will be your last Steering/
pedal unit.

Take a look at this product review (independant to TSW co.)

at:

no more spring breakage & bungy wearing out. This thing
is awesome.

I have the gp1, with the CH pedals.  I like it, all you may need is just the
pedals.

Hi Jeffrey

Have you gotten this combo to work in Win95 ?????

I have no probs in DOS, so I know there is nothing wrong with the
hardware :-(

Beers and cheers

Racing Wheel & Pedals for N2 - Some questions, please help me choose.

I used to own a Thrustmaster GP1 and a CH Virtual Pilot. I used
these wheels with a set of CH pedals.

My view was that the GP1 wheel looked good but did not work as well
as the CH Virtual Pilot. The GP1 did not seem to offer the same
accuracy and progressive steering response of the Virtual Pilot.

However, I recently purchased the new CH Racing wheel, which I can
use with my CH pedals. This wheel seems to work with everything
and boy does it ever track beautifully. It cost $89.95 (Canadian)
and comes with a 3 year warranty.

I run a dual boot system (Using System Commander) as I own most
of the racing games out there. This wheel works with everything
in MS-DOS 6.22 and in Win95

Although I am not really a Nascar fan (I prefer open wheel series),
I have to admit that I was bowled over by the CH wheels performance
in N2. The steering control is damned perfect.

Just a note to tell you that CH is also going to package this wheel
with a set of pedals and calls this The CH Racing System. I've
not seen it in stores yet but I understand the price will be around
or just above $100 US.

BTW - Can't wait for Ubisofts new F1 simulation. I have played
the demo and it is unbelievable (Requires 3DFX card !)
The long awaited GP2 successor will be here soon.
