GP3 - my view.

by DjFI » Sun, 23 Jul 2000 04:00:00

Everyone gets their say... and now that I've tried it I'm gonna say what
I think.

I feel sorry for anyone who put their money down for this game already.
Go buy a $10 copy of GP2, get the patches and wait a while longer.

GP3 is GP2 with a useless 3d engine (at least for me, using a TNT2),
good weather features, touched up sounds (supposedly), touched up menu
(nicer than gp2 in my opinion) and an official '98 licence.  Geoff
should have taken the time to create a whole new engine, not stick with
this "partially new" one.  They haven't even fixed the fact that they
can't model runoffs into tracks (in monaco, Melbourne and canada I
noticed this), let alone separate car models.

And since some people think f1 2000 is a flop as well this is what I
say... I wish the companies would let the programers be and let them
work at their own pace.  Just like the West boys are.  They have no
intentions of setting a deadline yet for this game, they're gonna keep
working on it until it satisfies them, and thank god they got high
standards.  Cause we know EA rushed F1 2000 out... cause they're "we'll
make it better next year" idea.  And Geoff either has not the highest
standards or he was also rushed by Microprose\Hasbro.

There's my 2 cents... this game is very close from being deleted from my
HD and never seen of again.  Thank god I didn't rush to get a pre-copy.

Still waiting for the perfect modern F1 sim...

GP3 - my view.

That's your take DjFIL.  However, I, along with a few people I know, would be
perfectly happy with GP3 if it was GP2 with rain and 3d accelerated graphics.
And isn't that what has been said GP3 would be all along?  It's been stated
from day one that GP3 would be an evolution of GP2 if I remember correctly.  I
personally haven't tried the warez out and I don't plan to because my
connection is a lowly 56k so I don't feel like downloading all day to get a
game that I've already got on preorder.

Waiting patiently for Friday when my copy (hopefully) comes to my door straight
from the UK and across the Atlantic...  (I wonder if anybody else in Kentucky
has bought GP3?)

GP3 - my view.

Say Hey to all Sim Drivers,
I spent many happy hours on GP2. (On a 486 DX4-100!)  When GPL arrived my
prayers were answered. Sure, the Physics Model is most of the story, and 1967
was a great year, but I'd drive a Hot Rod Lawn Mower sim if it worked like
that, and I've tried most every driving Sim since, and still haven't found
anything close! (Eye Candy)
Now with the D3D patch, wonderful new circuits (Praise Noonan,!!!) and
enhanced Graphics GPL has matured into the only Sim worth spending valuable
time with.
Hopefully GP3 will take the next step.
