N2: Mass pitting under yellow bug?

Along a similar line, can anyone in the know state as to whether the AI
in NASCAR/NASCAR 2 is designed so that cars a lap or more down pit on
the 2nd lap after the pits are open?  I see cars making an extra circuit
before pitting but I'm not sure what is causing this. If this is the
case, I would feel guilty about pitting when the pits open if I'm a lap
down (which occurs often enough!)  :)

Yes, lap down cars do NOT pit on the first pass.  You are obliged to do so
as well when a lap or more down.  However, the cautions are sometimes too
short to allow the extra lap before pitting and then still making it back
around for the restart.

yup right the cars one or more laps down are pitting one lap later then the
others under yellow. the decision to do so too is left to you, doesnt bring up
a black flag for you. this is for sure for n2 dont know about n1 tough.

I am pretty sure it wasn't in the original N1, but was introduced in one
of the patches.

Tom,

What do you mean when you say you are "obliged" to?  Are you speaking
morally <g> or is the sim designed so that you're supposed to be forced
to wait a lap?  I've always been allowed to pit immediately when the
pits open even if I'm 20 laps down, but I'm more than willing to make a
house rule for myself to wait a lap so that it's more realistic.
