F1 2001 won't Start

Upon installing - when I attempt to start the game it goes to a black screen
w/ the hourglass cursor and never changes. Here's what I've tried so far;

Installed game in my "Games" partition. Reverted to installing in C:\ drive.

Installed original version from CD.
Installed original version + Patch 1.
Installed original version + Patch 1 and 2.
Installed original version + Patch 1 and NoCD.

Tried the following NVidia drivers; 21.89, 23.11, 28.32 (both versions).

Tried to start game in every possible video resolution possible. Tried to
start in Compatibility Mode.

Same result every time. My system is as follows;

Dell Dimension 8200 1.9 512 RAM
Win XP
Dell DVD/CD ROM
Plextor 24/1040a burner
GeForce 3 Ti200 64mb RAM
Dual Monitors; Samsung 170T (LCD) as primary,
Samsung 570S (LCD) on GeForce 2 MX 100 as secondary.

Anyone have any ideas to try - thanks so much;

Bob Jared

Do you happen to have Indexing turned off on Windows XP?  There are some problems with games running without it.  Did you maybe install while in an Administrator account and are trying to run from a Limited User account?  Otherwise, I'd suggest you uninstall your current F1 2001 setup and start fresh.  This time let F1 2001 install everything to the default directories.

Bob,

You have to redownload the patches then reninstall everything about four or
five times...at least that's what I had to do. I finally downloaded the
No-CD complete and just replaced the patched version that never worked. Let
me know if you want to try it. I found it on one of the sites but I can't
remember where.

Same happened when I moved the slider of "Audio Hardware Acceleration" to
the left for GPL to deal with crappy sound under XP.
