I can't get f1 2001 to start. Windows 98se, Creative Labs Graphics
Blaster Riva TNT 16mb, 256mb ram, 18gb hard drive, 9gb free.
I've updated to latest video bios, and have tried both the latest
creative labs drivers and the 21.83 driver from nvidia and both
exhibit the same problem: Start game, get EasyDisc splashscreen,
monitor sounds like it switches resolution, screen goes black, mouse
cursor goes to hourglass. Mouse is moveable but keyboard is locked
(can't turn numlock on/off). Have to reset the computer via the reset
switch.
I've tried the game in a multitiude of resolutions via the 3d setup
program and have tried changing my native windows resolution to the
same as the game.
I have running the latest Directx as confirmed by dxdiag. I also
redownloaded Directx from Microsoft and the files are the same name &
size.
I do not have DMA check for the cdrom drive and I've tried installing
the game in both drives that I have, one is a regular cdrom, the other
is a slower cdrw.
The above troubleshooting seems to be what I've gathered from reading
this newsgroup and also looking at EA's docs. Nothing works.
Any ideas?
