Try running the game with the -windowed switch. This may help you to
work out whether or not it's going to work at all. Also try changing
the screen resolution in your setup if using full screen (one of the
function keys also does it). Your graphics card might be sending out
the resolution at a frequency your monitor can't handle resulting in
the black screen.
Just a couple of suggestions - I'm not an expert on this but I did
have similar problems when first using it. The default resolution
when you first load the game played Mary-Hell with my monitor.
