>Well, is it?

If you have a 3dfx card (I just got one yesterdaym, woo hoo!) it will
rock your world. Otherwise it's just OK.

Well, first of all it's not a SIM, but it sure is a very fun arcade
racer and the first motorcycle racer I've had fun with on my home computer
since playing "Hang-On" on my old roommate's Amiga500 many years ago.

It worked pretty well for me with a P166, Matrox Mill, 32Meg RAM, just had to
turn off a few details and run in 320x400.

This week I bought a Monster3D 3dfx accelerator and *amazingly* on the same
computer I can now play MotoRacer at 640x480 with all the details on at 30fps
and it looks especially beatiful using the D3D "filtered" mode.

Not bad for a $161 Monster3D card :)

Anyhow, MotoRacer is a *very* fun arcade racer, just don't be expecting a
"sim".

Looking forward to a 3dfx version of Nascar2, and sorely sad we will never
see a 3dfx version of GP2, would be awesome to have GP2's driving model
with Psygnosis F1's graphics and sound and especially F1's WET WEATHER racing.

Cheers.

Funnily enough, (just as the other poster did too) I went and bought a
Monster 3D today also (Millenium+3dFX is supposed to be the best setup
going?) and grabbed a copy of MotoRacer. What a blast! Everything full
on at 30fps on my P133, and a good trash of an arcade racer, but I'm
useless at the offroad courses.

I was thinking of buying a PlayStation. The 3dFX is better.

Any bike thing is good enough for me - Team Suzuki is the only other
PC bike racer I can think of (barring Road Rash, but that's just a
Sega port), and this is so playable.

Not raced Nascar 2 at all - I was hopeless and crashed too often with
N1. If this alleged Microsoft port to D3D comes off, I could reinstall
GP2, but at the moment it's not on my HD.

:Cheers.

That makes three of us. I played the Moto Racer demo first (on my
P200) and thought it was just OK. Then I installed the Monster 3D 3dfx
and WOW! 640x480, filtered (similar to anti-aliased) textures, 30 fps
steady even at high speed. I was impressed! It feels like it's tripled
the 3d performance of my computer - the 3dfx is easily the most "power
per dollar" that I have ever bought.

BTW, have you tried the F6 view? It rocks - virtual***pit mode with
leaning! It even makes the dirt-bike racing fun. I will buy this game
as soon as it's available - can't wait to see a sim (i.e., gp2, n2,
etc.) ported to the 3dfx.

Other 3dfx games I'm playing ... Tomb Raider (great graphics and
gameplay - you can download a 3dfx demo). I bought Quake today and am
now downloading the Quake GL 3dfx patch (and the ncc 1701-D Enterprise
map <g>). Can't wait for the I76 D3D patch and Jedi Kinght (although I
wouldn't have time to play them right now anyway!).

Despite this game being D3D is also runs extremely well on a Rendition
based card.  I run it on a P166 512k with Intergraph Intense 3d and it
run just as good as the Voodoo version, maybe even better.  They did a
fantastic job with this game, don't let D3D's poor track record keep you
Rendition owners away.

I have been playing this demo all weekend.  It is great!  Where can I get
the full version?  Oh, wait.  I feel that he should release the full
version and not ask for any money.  What a capatalist dog!  Death to the
greedy!!!

Yep. The***pit mode is the only true way to play. It's great bringing the
front end up and not seeing what's in front of you. Both street and dirt are
good. I prefer the dirt racing however.

R:

Actually it works well with the Rendition boards as well.
