OT: Overclocking Question

by John P. Wilso » Mon, 26 Oct 1998 03:00:00

Hello,

I have looked on Tom's Hardware Site (I think that's the name...), but have
found nothing about my question.  Basically I would like to know, from
others' experiences, what I can overclock my K6 266MHz on an FIT 100MHz
board, and how I would go about it (I know it has something to do with the
bus' jumpers, but I need a step-by-step).

Thanks for any help, or another newsgroup that I can contact.

With the AMD - you are not likely to get much reliability beyond 300 - so
just refer to your motherboard manual and adjust the jumpers for the bus to
100 and the cpu clock multiplier to 3, and see if it runs OK. I wouldn't
change the specified voltages as this may endanger your CPU.
Its only the Intel Celeron that can be really overclocked a lot with a BX
motherboard.
