Overclocking Question

Overclocking Question

by Reginald Wilton » Mon, 18 Nov 1996 04:00:00

I've got a P100, which I have successfully overclocked to 120Mhz, whith
no problems.  I tried to goto 133Mhz, and I had no luck booting to
Win95, but it runs fine when I boot to Command Prompt(DOS) mode.

Any ideas how this could be overcome?  Is it even going to be possible?

I'm definitely happy to get 120Mhz, but 133 sure would be nice. ;)

TIA
Kev

Hi Kev,

Win95 is sort of the "ultimate test" for an overclocked CPU, and many
CPUs which work fine will suddenly fall over as 95 boots up. The only
way around it is to wire your 60/66Mhz motherboard speed upto your
"turbo" switch. That way you can flick between 120 & 133 depending upon
what you're gonna be doing.

Cheers!
John

Ive got a similar setup on mine, I essentially have a 75Mhz clock but
its set at 90Mhz and works great, so far. I can also set it to 100Mhz
on a cold day, as when it gets too hot, it wont boot up. So basically
keep it cool, and it might be ok, if it doesnt want to boot, and the
thing is dead cold, then  I wouldnt suggest going any higher ;)
