Daytona USA advanced track question

by Cameron Geoffrey I » Thu, 08 Sep 1994 08:54:43

Hi fellow sim fans!!

For those of you that have played Daytona USA from Sega, have any of you tried
out the advanced track? If so, then how do you handle the fast right, fast left
slow left section just after coming out of the tunnel? This part of the track
is always slowing me down. When I get to it, I start braking gently just after
leaving the tunnel, then move to the inside of the left hander, where I shift
into third gear. Heres where the problem begins - the car doesn't want to turn,
it wants to keep going straight ahead into the rock wall. When this happens,
lots of cars fly right by me, and I end up knocking some of the direction posts
about.

Any help will be greatly appreciated,

Thanks,

Cameron..

I keep my foot down in the tunnel.  Turning right before I can see the exit
of the tunnel so I just miss the wall then keeping my foot down and
treating the fast left bend as a straight (as near as possible) by turning
straight for its apex then when I get to the really tight right hander
I turn the wheel full right and stab the brakes heavily.  This swings
the back out and then you just put the power on again and being careful
not to skid go onto the next bend.  I use this technique quite a lot,
maybe I think I'm still playing Ridge Racer.

I noticed the direction of the bends we describe doesn't match, even though
it is obvious which corner we are talking about.  Maybe SEGA provided
us "left-handers" a special version, pity there aren't any roundabouts. ;-)
