Hello,

This might be a little off topic, but what the heck.

Did you notice how the cars really went sliding around that flat out turn on
the back straight when it was drying up and the wet tires wore out ?

It was really great to watch, and even the commentator said it was like
watching a 60's F1 race.

Aaaah, that was great..  It did look like a '60s F1 race and I loved every
minute of it.

Aw MAN, it was BEAUTIFUL!  But, the first time I saw it, I expected someone to
be in the wall in the next camera shot. Scary...

Pity about the state of the track. Why did they change it's configuration?

From the 97 layout you mean ? I think the old track is only a contruction site
or something.

I live in beautiful Vancouver, so allow me to offer a little more info about
the track.

The "old track" went around much of what once was once the Expo '86 site.
Ever since that world fair ended in late 1986, that entire area has been
slated to be redeveloped.  Two years ago, construction finally started on a
lot of buildings (condos, mostly) in areas that formerly housed many of the
stands for the race.  Thus, by necessity, the track was moved a little
eastward.

I really miss the old layout.  I especially liked the tunnel around BC
Place--kind of like Monaco, in a very small way.

Dunno.  I found myself getting LOST trying to follow the in-car views.  I was
trying to match it to ICR2...<g>

Yeah, I live on the old Expo 86 site, and could watch the race from my
window... now I can barely see them over across the water.  :(
