Formula 1 Problems

I have just got F1 and it will not run I have a 686-200+  32 meg EDO 3dfx card
I can run everything else that is out for the 3dfx , but this installs ok
runs the intro and the options screen but soon as it starts to go to the
startup screen it crashes black screen and I have to reboot the computer
some one said it may be because of the 686 processor but surely any software
company would have the intelligence to test on all processors, Hmmmmm then
again maybe not, can any one help with this PLEASE thanks in advance Geoff.

BZZZT!  In the past companies do not test *ALL* processor MFR's models.
Wingcommander3's install guide said on the first page that the game is only
tested & proven with Intel CPU's. Meaning that this exact problem could happen.

Always buy Intel. The AMD K6 looks cool but it could very well not run
on some games. Anyone with some experience here?

BTW, I do not believe that Cyrix & AMD chips are 100% Intel compatible.
But rather "mostly" compatible.

Been there done that!
Bad luck - It's the 686 processor.
I tried everything with my 686-166 then I decided to try a Pentium chip in
my motherboard (reset the jumpers of course) - Formula One worked straight
away.
Put a Pentium in or take the game back.

Dear Cyrix owners,

I just so happen to be selling an Intel P5-133. Best offer takes it! Email
below if interested. I will pay priority shipping in the Continental US.

When I get the check I send the CPU.

Although I do not own F1 I have heard many negative comments about
it. It contains many bugs, but the graphics are supposed to be stunning. As for
686 support, it does not support it fully. Apparently it as something to do
with how the 686 deals with floating point operations, but don't quote me. Hope
this helps a little.
