Project Wildfire Mods coming to OLR

Florence, SC - Project Wildfire has agreed to allow Onlineracin.com to
utilize the NASCAR Racing 2003 mods that are soon to be released. The
immediate byproduct of this agreement will bring the Busch Grand
National Series bodies as well as the Craftsman Truck Series bodies to
Onlineracin.com including additional tracks.

"It's very exciting to see the trucks again and actually see a BGN
model that is slower in comparison to the Cup cars. I believe these
kinds of modifications and additions to the sim will lengthen its life
span dramatically," commented Jayme Blackmon. "We are now searching
for the best route to take into implementing these mods into league
play and how they will be most effective. I'm sure our competition
committee and the Director of Competition, Joe Lomas will need to
weigh all options," he added.

No date has been given on the release of the Project Wildfire Mods,
however you will be able to download them directly from
Onlineracin.com.

Note: Any fees associated with racing at Onlineracin.com do not
include any kind of compensation to Project Wildfire.

Not yet... I guess it'll only be a matter of time. The guys from Project
Wildfire know just as well as any other racer on this planet, that, provided
the mods are going to be as incredible as announced, this is too good not to
start charging for sooner or later. We'll see....

Not sure I get that.
Seeing as how this is a patch to a game everyone already owns, what server or host won't be able to use them?

Very simple, it's called supply and demand

Why would anyone want to pay for a mod that others can supply for free,
legally ?

You just need to bone up on your Press Release 101... ;-)

Well, not sure what your point is either lol

PW mods are free to everyone, according to Their press release :)
So unless I suddenly forgot how to read, Joe making a post implying OLR has some exclusive rights misrepresents what PW is offering
that's all.

Hey, I like OLR, specifically the Flashpoint Series.  I'm just trying to make sure I'm not missing anything.

Using that (correct) logic, they wouldn't be able to *advertise* OLR here
without being hammered for spamming. Which it is anyway, but hey, whatever.
OLR has and still sucks IMHO. Link up with a good league on a good server,
that's the best route. Then you don't need a redirector or have to pay fees
(pay leagues aside, there are a ton of good free ones out there).

Your guess is as good as mine when it comes to Papy...

But I'm not just talking about us, at some point, some of the many
talented GPL editors will migrate over if they see it as a viable base
for an interesting mod, and with the amount of talent at such sites as
GPLEA and what not, I feel very confident that we'll see a fair number
of interesting and well made mods, with or without Papy's help :-)

We'll sure do our bit

"Joeri Cox"  wrote

If they tried to charge for a mod they would have Sierra's lawyers on the
phone to them in no time at all.

While Project Wildfire have done a lot of work, it seems like most of the
groundwork was laid by Papyrus.  Without them none of this would be
possible.

Not trying to be an a**, but why would anyone be e***d about these mods?
Slower NASCAR type cars driven by guys no one's ever heard of, even in the
U.S. That sounds like fun. It's not like the NASCAR cars don't handle bad
enough (and go slow enough) already.

Trucks???

Trucks???

Bet they handle great, and the speed must be breathtaking.

Well you failed there.

The best racing sim has 3 new driving models, youd have to be dumb not to find that exciting.

That rubbish.

That sounds like fun. It's not like the NASCAR cars don't handle bad

You must have trouble with your setups then, my car drives great.

The project wildfire guys say they are more fun to drive than WC cars.

I think Steve's meaning Press Release 101: Say Lots Without Really Saying
Anything

I believe it's a pre-requisite for upper-level NASCAR language studies. ;-)

We offered to assist the crew of Project Wildfire any way possible.
Also, we have received countless emails since they made the
announcement on the mods, so we have posted we will have it on the
servers with their approval.  IMO, I have always tried to build a good
relationship with Papyrus and any organization that builds 3rd party
software and make sure I get their approval before acting on
something.  Also, we are working on having the short track series as
part of either the CTS or BGN mod.
