Force Feedback and Win2000

by Zen » Thu, 15 Mar 2001 11:50:47

Hi,

I recently installed Win2000, based on NT technology. I later attempted to
load my FF Steering wheel, Interact V4 FF, but I was unable to do so. I went
to Interact's website, where a FAQ explains that they don't intend to
support this OS, because it is too complicated to implement FF in an NT
environment. I am sad.

Is there any FF wheel out there that is Win2000 compatible?

MS FF the gameport version works Good on 2000 very strong force feedback,
The act labs ff works but the force feedback is weaker than the Ms in 2000.
Btw MSFF only works ONCE per game, If you N4 then exit and start it a second
time you will loose ff until you restart. Act labs ff is allways there
though.

LWFF GP USB works great for me.  If you use hibernation you have to close
the Profiler before hibernating though...

The MSFF works every time with force feedback in my car sim, no
problems here in Win2K. Also it works every time in the DirectX SDK
samples. Must be a problem with N4 not releasing the device perhaps.
Great wheel, like it very much.

Logitech Wingman Formula Force works in Win2000 - I have had some problems
with the profiler, but the wheel itself works fine.

This wheel seems to be one of the best force-feedback models out there, as
well.
