Hey, where did you get that cars95 file! I just bought the game two days ago and
can't seem to get any sleep now. Could someone post the site to get the cars95
file?

I don't think it has anything to do with the car data sets.  I have seen it
a few times also - a red box that says "Can't load garage"  I usually
go back to the track, hit escape, and try again.  Then it works.

Anyone else seen this?

: Yup, I get it _all_ the time with cars95 set.  Copying the *.txt files
: to the cars94 directory works okay, so it's definitely the .dat file
: that's at fault.  Maybe the Euro and US versions are different?

--- The "Can't Load garage" message has nothing to do with the carset, guys.
It is a result in memory conflicts and tie-ups with the little replay
screen that runs in the menu areas... I can almost guarentee that.
I would even venture to say that people with the less RAM are experiencing
this occurance far more then others with more (?).  Nope, it's not in the
carset.  It happens often to me when I exit a Practice/Warm-up
session (after getting the tires nice and warm so I can tune) and the replay
screen is quite congested.... I get the message.  However, when I finally
can get to the garage.... everything is back to the beginning (ie. tires
are all at 70 deg. etc) :-(   This has all been mentioned, so maybe it'll be
addressed in due-time ;-)

Hate to disagree with you guys, but the European version IS different from the
US version and the car sets won`t work without a tweak. Here`s what you do:
(Thanks to Gary Brown for the original info :-)) )

Using a hex editor go thru the cars**.dat file & replace every occurence of
the string KELL_5 with BENG13 (there should be 4), run the game & hey
presto!!!! I`ve got a DOS prog that allows you to enter the 2 strings, with a
filename & it does the rest. If anyone needs it, suggest a site & I`ll put it
there. This isn`t the only difference, we (in Europe), get a crappy 21 page
manual instead of the 170+ page affair you get Stateside....

Someone posted the fix for the Euro vesion here, a few weeks ago. It
required editing the *.txt, if I remember correctly.

The ftp site to get the best cars95 file is:
ftp.webcom.com /pub/zyllyx/iwcc/paint
There is a ww home page but I have lost it some where. This ftp
site does allow for anonymouse logins.

So how come I get it only with cars95.dat, not the default?

I have 8MB.  No EMM386, just HIMEM.SYS, no SMARTDRV or anything else to hog
the RAM.  That little replay screen can be real full but with cars94 there's
never a problem, so it _is_ the car set, in some way or other.

Anyway, NASCARs are slow and boring... (woah! flames!)

The program is looking for the cars in the cars set for #4 and the
default car you drive.  If you have "Swapped" any of these cars the
program gets very confused.  Try Swapping them back and then
export/import the cars you want into those slots....
