Monster 3D Problems

by Barrie Erskin » Sun, 07 Dec 1997 04:00:00

I just purchased a Monster 3D card for my system and I am having problens
with it. I got it installed OK but when I go to try to play a game any game
it freezes on me and the only thing I can do is restart my computer.

I have a PPro 200 with 64 megs of ram and a Matrox Millennium 2 and the
Monster.

I phoned Tech support but they are not open until Monday and I want to play.

Please HELP ME

Thanks

A few ideas:

Make sure the cable is installed snugly
Make sure the card is seated tightly
Swap the card to a different PCI Slot
Update the drivers

First off, you will want new drivers ... the ones on the Diamond CD are
OLD ...

Go here:

http://www.diamondmm.com/products/drivers/monster-3d.html

Then you will want to install the latest GLIDE drivers, go here:

http://www.3dfx.com/software/download_glidert.html

And last of all, you will want to make sure you have DirectX 5.0 if the
game requires it:

http://www.microsoft.com/directx/resources/default.asp

This is the proper order of installation:

1.  Diamond 1.09 drivers
2.  DX 5.0
3.  DX 5.0a update files
4.  3dfx Glide 2.43 file

Hope this helps ...

I understand your problem.  I had the same deal.  Go to http://www.
monstermm.com to download the Monster patch.  See if it works.  It help
me out.
