Hi.
hope someone can help me. I got gpl and have updated the
tracks/cars/sound, got the discon fix and bandwidth patch, and the d3d
thing,and got VROC working.
BUT the game runs in a widescreen type format with 1 inch borders top
and bottom, and other people's screen shot's look a lot better then
mine.
I read that i had to do something with a core.ini to get the d3d thing
to work properly, I don't have one, only a core.ini.sample.
Can any help me out with what i'm meant to do ,or better yet point me
to a url with core.ini already done.
I read the read me but it didn't really explain it very good.

I have a p3 800 128mb geforce4 mx 64mb

  use the info in the readme file that came with the patch to configure
your core.ini.sample file.  Then when you save the file, delete the sample
extention.  You now have a file called core.ini      But also take are you
don't save it with a .txt extention.  Double check when you're done to make
sure the file is NOT named core.ini.txt

   The Widescreen Banded view is the ONLY view available.  This is what you
should be seeing, you don't have a problem.  There are some tweeks that can
adjust the Field of View(fov) but I don't remember if they also tweeked out
the black borders.

Thanks Dave.
Did what you said. I just copied and pasted this

[ Int Profile Values ]
value3 = Direct3D7:D3DDevice:0                  ; do not change
value4 = Direct3D7:TossHighestMip:0             ; do not change
value5 = Direct3D7:DoubleMirrorResWidth:1       ; do not change
value6 = Direct3D7:DoubleMirrorResHeight:1      ; do not change
value7 = Direct3D7:DirectMirrorRendering:1      ; do not change
value8 = Direct3D7:DisableZBuffer:0             ; do not change
value9 = Direct3D7:AlphaThreshold:240           ; do not change
value10 = Direct3D7:TransparentMipsDrawOrder:0  ; do not change
value11 = Direct3D7:TrilinearFiltering:1        ; do not change
value12 = Direct3D7:AnisotropicFiltering:0      ; do not change
value13 = Direct3D7:LODBias:-50                 ; do not change

[ Direct3D7 ]
D3DDevice = 0
TossHighestMip = 0
DoubleMirrorResWidth = 1
DoubleMirrorResHeight = 1
DirectMirrorRendering = 1
DisableZBuffer = 0
AlphaThreshold = 1
TransparentMipsDrawOrder = 1
TrilinearFiltering = 1
AnisotropicFiltering = 14
LODBias = -75

to the bottom of my core.ini file. I didn't notice much (any) change.
What i was mainly trying to do was smooth out some of the white lines
on the edge of tracks. They are pretty jaggy ,and distracting when on
the move.
i've uploaded some screen shot's ,  do people think that i can get it
looking better

The screenshots are 800x600, is that th res you are running in?  If it is, try 1024x768 or higher,
it looks alot better in the higher res.  Also, if your pc will handle it, you could try turning on
FSAA in your display adapter advanced settings properties.  For GF cards I also recoemmedn using the
fixed version of the OpenGL driver available at racesimcentral.com forum.
