What a load of crap. I loaded the game and ran Windy.exe. Then
I try running at Loudon. The freaking game pauses the entire time
I am on the back straight!!! Thats right, I exit turn 2 to enter the back
straight, then the whole game pauses for seconds. Then when it comes
back I am entering turn 3. WTF is that all about???

OK so I try the DOS version of CART (which is on the CD). Know what
it is impossible to re-assign the Controller inputs I want. Whenever I
select Accelerator or Brake or anything else I get "MOUSE X". WHAT!!!
I am running the game out of Windows but it should work. Then I try
to run it from pure DOS. Oh ***I didn't reinstall the DOS drivers
for my soundcard, so the joystick is not available. All of a sudden
I realize that this is *WAY* more trouble than it is worth. The real
solution is for the damn game to work in winbloze like it is supposed
to.

All I wanted to do was see if I could get my Logitech FF wheel to
work in CART (which I know does good modem play) so I could
get rid of NR1999 and do some modem racing with my buddy.

I wanted to do SCGT modem racing with him, but people here
said it doesn't work well. What a load of crap, nothing works!

Uninstall the CART Windows version and stick with the DOS one.

But since I told you to stick to DOS, and that you have a Logitech FF wheel,
it won't work.  DOS applications, whatever they are run in a Dos box or in
Dos mode, will have problems with Force Feedback controllers.  Example :
NROS, who doesn't run Direct Input at all, so no FF or Digital wheel works
with it.  So install the WIndows version, and read below.

You wouldn't be able Im about sure.

Still, it would help if you told us your PC specifications.

There is an easy way to use cart racing in dos.  You just need to put a
shortcut on your desktop or inyour start menu that reboots in ms dos mode
without loading your mouse driver.  Then it will work better. and if you get
rid of some other terminate and stay programs that way, it might even run
faster.  all you need dos to load is your soundcard driver.

Rgr that.

The FF should work in a DOS bos (or so the docs say).

The N2/NR1999 joystick stuff is "optimized for the NROS online play
and won't work properly with digital wheels, true enough. I don't think
ICR2 has any of that foolishness so it should work.

We will see. And of course you could be right. But I am
stubborn :-)

P2-450 with 128MB of ram and the Windy.exe game still stutters.
Total BS if you ask me. I'm gonna try DOS.

I just got the Logitech FF wheel to work with the DOS version of
ICR2. The joystick calib is rock solid. I had to start in pure DOS
(reboot) and set up the wheel, accel, brake shifting and reverse
with my T2 wheel. Then I went back into W98 and put the Logitech
FF wheel on Joystick ID#1 in the Control Panel. Then I went to the
Start Button/RUN and typed "C:\SIERRA\CART\DOS\CART\Cart.exe -h".
It loaded and I was able to calibrate and use the Logitech FF. No
problem. Except the program is old and moldy :-)

   If memory serves.........

  For controls -

rem the mouse command from autoexec.bat.
  Calibrate
Re enable mouse in autoexec.bat later

Cool congrats.

At least it's the DOS version, which is superior to the Windows version
(it's the perfect interface IMHO Icr2-Dos)  ;-)

I wasn't aware that the Logitech could be emulated to run Dos programs.

Neither was the technical weenie (a nice guy BTW) for Computer ***
World who did the review on the Logitech FF wheel :-) It does say in the
docs that it works in a Win98 DOS box and I found this to be very true.

Yep. I remember this from when it came out.
If your mouse driver was loaded when you first installed/ran it, the
mouse would be your default controller, and couldn't be changed.

After you ran it and calibrated another controller, the mouse didn't
cause any more problems.

That's odd.....  I run the Windows version on a 450Celery/V3 setup and get
90FPS on the back straight at Michigan with a full field.  The game version's
not the cause of the stutter on your PC; must be sumthin' else. :-)

Cheers,

Could be my 16MB TNT card. Anyway I have the DOS version
running just fine in a W98 DOS box so I am set. Thanks.
