Fixed Setup in NASCAR 2003

Being a newbie (2 weeks) I'm guessing when racing/practicing using the
Fixed Setup, that everyone is using the same setup. These guys are
actually that much faster in and out of the corner. Like the Rock. I can
crank 169-170 down the front strech but I'll be damn if I can get into
the 23 second bracket for a lap time. When watching the leaders on
replay, the straight speed looks the same but there a second or so
faster. These are on the open servers. I guess the Passworded servers,
the drivers are really flying.

I'm assuming everyone is on the up and up, without changes to any .ini
files??

BTW, most people have been great answering questions and giving
pointers. This is a lot of fun.

Yes you will find people who run fixed setups who will just blow your doors
off until you get better.

Here's another way of thinking about:
You give 2 people the same guitar and tell them to play the same song.  One
of them could be a LOT better than the other.  Driving is no differant.
Talent and practice.

Good analogy Joel.   Just like with the guitar though, a guy with less talent can become much better with practice.  However, in the end, the guy with more talent has more potential - it's just whether or not he meets that potential.

Slower in, faster out and tires. Get em every chance you get. Don't burn
your tires out trying to catch the 23 sec folks. Manage your tires and
you'll pass em on a long green run.

I gotta agree.  I race in three excellent leagues and during practice and
qualifying I am never the fastest.  I usually rate in the top five, however,
in races I am always a threat for the win.  Those high speeds do people no
good if they use up all their tires and energy at the start of a 50 laps
run.  Just save your stuff, hang out around 3rd to 5th if ya can and kill
'em the last 20 laps.

If you aren't getting long green flag runs you are racing at the wrong
places. LOL.

Probably.  We had a long green run at the Rock on Saturday, but fewer than 10
cars were running at the tine.  I've just joined two N2003 leagues(one monday,

I was just messing with ya....a lot of leagues have trouble with cautions
Guys who don't know how to take care of their cars for long runs or who just
push it so hard that they spin continuously.  Leagues are the best way to
race.  They usually result in getting a bunch of a good people who can weed
out the wreckers, etc.  I ran my second race with a new league I joined last
night.  We had a major problem with a guy wrecking people and getting smart,
needless to say he is probably done for as most leagues won't tolerate that,
I don't think this one will either.  If they do, I'll step up my schedule
again at my other league.   Have fun!
