LWFF software installation problem

by captri.. » Tue, 16 Jan 2001 08:38:01

Hello.  Trying to re-install LWFF wingman software on my newly built
computer.  LWFF and software worked fine on previous computer, so thats
not the problem.  Problem is that the system hangs after the reboot
during the installation.  Logi website not much help. It has been
suggested that this is a serial port conflict, but I have not been able
to resolve the issue.  Help!  racin withdrawl is occurring!

LWFF software installation problem

As I recall it, I had the same problem when I first got my LWFF.  (NOTE:
I'm using Win95 with no USB support, so I have to use the LWFF thru the
serial port)  There was a file, in Logitech's default sub-directory, that
had the string USB in the title that always caused my system to hang upon
boot-up.  After deleting this file (sorry, I don't recall the exact name),
everything has been fine.  Unfortunately, if you aim to connect your LWFF
via USB, you would probably need that file.

Depending on your system, I hope this helps....

If your CPU speed is over 900MHz then you will need to install the Logitech
Speed Fix found at:

http://www.racesimcentral.net/

I just came across this myself when my new Athlon 1GHz wouldn't boot up and
linked it to*** when the profiler is trying to load.

How fast is the new machine?  Which driver version are you using?

If the machine is in the 1GHz range and you're using the drivers from the CD
that came with the LWFF, you need to download the latest (3.62 for Win98,
3.65 for Win2K) drivers from www.wingmanteam.com.  There were timing issues
with earlier drivers and fast processors which cause the system to hang.

Oh yeah, make sure you download the Microsoft installer from the ling on the
wingmanteam site - this caused me big headaches before they updated their
website, as the drivers wouldn't even install.

HTH.

Thanks.  Im at work now, so I cant try these things until tonight.  My
new comp is 1.1GHz TBird, so I will try the new driver and Microsoft
installer and see whether that helps.

Not my site but scroll down and look for the part about the fix for fast
machines. It seems to be included in their latest software package but as I
haven't installed it I don't know. I have the original file and can email it
if you want it.
