LWFF Profiler Software

by BRH » Mon, 31 Jan 2000 04:00:00

As I posted in previous threads, I'm having nothing but problems with my
LWFF.

I've tried all sorts of things to get the FF effects working, including
installing DX7.0a, but nothing has worked.  So, let me back up and ask a
more basic question:

If anyone is running Wingman Profiler 3.10.55 with their LWFF, do the
effects work properly?

This version of the profiler had been installed on my PC a long time ago
when I had a Logitech Joystick.  The profiler recognizes the LWFF wheel
(Both lights are on), but when I click the Profiler tab to test the
effects, I get absolutely nothing -- not even a hint of movement
(although the sounds work fine).  Not even when I increase the effects
to the maximum 150%.

The wheel and pedals do work, however, but without FF.  I've used it
with GPL and other racing games, and made sure that FF effects were
activated in the profiler and in the software, but I can't feel any
effects.  Sme thing with Viper Racing.  However, steering, gas and brake
work just fine.

During system bootup, the wheel turns slightly (about 30 degrees) to the
left when the right-hand light on the wheel comes on.

Does this sound like a hardware problem, or can it be something else?

My system won't let me successfully install Profiler Versions 3.25 or
3.3, so that's not an option.

I guess what I need to know is whether my problem stems from not being
able to run the latest profiler software, or is there more to it, like a
bad wheel?

Once again, thanks in advance.

I have just read the other posts and you need to get 3.30 to install I had
the same problem even when I cleared all software off but in my case I had
other problems which lead me to reformat my hard drive which cured the
problem and 3.30 installed ok and every thing is fine I know this isn't a
cure but that was my experience

No thanks, last "update" from LWFF did more harm than good. How on earth
they could oversee that the "damper" slider was missing?! Total blunder.

Sounds like it could be reading old keys from the registry.  I don't
remember seeing anything about you cleaning up the registry...

As always, when mucking around in the registry, make sure you KNOW
WHAT YOU'RE DOING!  I you do, then uninstall the logitech stuff, fire
up regedit/regedt32 and clear out all the logitech entries, probably
under "current user" or "local machine" <slash> "software".  Then try
reinstalling the latest version.

I recommend to reinstall Win98 (iron over), after having uninstalled the
Logi-drivers.
This solved alotta probs for me in the past.
