LWFF Profiler and WinVROC

by PaiK » Thu, 24 Feb 2000 04:00:00

Hi there!

I've problems with Logitech Profiler (3.30 drivers) and WinVROC.
I've created a specific profile for GPL Online (pointing to
GPLLaunch.exe),
but when join a race sometimes (60% times) don't load correctly the
profile,
I must disconnect from race, reconnect and pray for the profile loads.

I tried loading the Profiler before WinVROC, WinVROC before Profiler,
closing Profiler
before joinning a race, etc.., and sometimes works correctly but seems
totally random,
I've to reconnect several times until the profile loads.

Anyone can help me?

Thanks.

I have the same problem. I've followed all the tips from the
various webpages (Eric Cote's, Alison's...) and it's still a
crapshoot. I even tried creating a new profile and attaching
it to a dosbox, then launching a dosbox before joining a race.
No go... the profile only seems to work while the focus is on
the profiled application... argh!!

I've this annoying problem for months! My laps time are nearly a
second slower as a consequence, in any race. And my consistency is
next to none.
I've also tried everything suggested and more, but to no avail. Surely
there must be a way round this silly problem!
Has anyone contacted Logitech or even VROC about this?
I think maybe I will, because it doesn't look like no one here on this
NG seems to know a definitive solution, or a even the cause for this
problem.

Mauricio.

I sometimes have the problem you mentioned. In my case, I load Profiler
in my Startup group, so it always loads first.

I have noticed however, that each time the profiler failed to "take", it
has turned out that Windows had launched some stupid scheduled task like
the disk defragger, disk cleaner upper thingy, or sometimes the Windows
Update Critical Update Notification dialog. Usually those dialogs show
up behind WinVROC... the next time you test and don't get your profiles
loaded, close GPL, minimize WinVROC and check if you have anything
running in the background.

Same for me.
I even had some profile-changes WITHIN A RACE.
(This stopped, when I screwed my Voodoo 2000 back to 143MHz)
Still GPL doesn't activates the wished profile in 90% of the starts. I already
get used to the procedure:
Join a race
jump into the car
check the shifter
jump out
reassign the shifter buttons

It doesn't kill me, but I would like to have the left/right view and the
most-needed comments at my fingertips

I'm using the profiler for minimum sensivity in brakes, not for
mapping keys.
I just left blank the buttons in profiler (not keys assigned), and in
GPL I assigned the shifter, left/right, etc... to the buttons, so load
or not the profile the keys always work.

I don't know if you can understand me, my english really suck.

Hmm,
Depending on the profile active or not, GPL assigns either Z and X or Button x
and button y (don't know the numbers now) to the left/right view.
This is BECAUSE I have assigned something in the profiler.
I'll erase the assignments for shifter and left/right and see again. Sounds
promising.
What I still don't have then are the PO/shift-R on the wheel, but that is the
less important.

Thanks for the hint

Also here, really no other progs running in the background.
Probably we have to look for our PC setup and the drivers we use, the problem
could also be there.
MB
Soundcard
Graphiccard ...

I'll have ti check mine later, since my home PC is down.
