DX6 woes

by E. Nea » Tue, 12 Jan 1999 04:00:00

Hi guys,

In my never ending quest for frame rate on an obsolete box, I installed
directx6 and now I can't run gpl or N2.  I have a p200mmx, 32 mb,
reactor 4mb vid card and sb awe64 sound card.  I tried to remove dx6 in
the control panel, but it just doesn't seem to remove everything to
where it was before I installed it.  I've tried reinstalling my sound
and vid drivers, but no luck with that.  When I hit my gpl icon all it
does is reformat my display settings and put me back onto the desk top.

If anyone can point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it very
much.

Take Care,
Eddy

Only to say that DX6 is not your problem as there is nothing
wrong with it. Also, DirectX is not the answer to basic framerate
performance. A better CPU is. I would suggest looking at reinstalling
your video and sound drivers. Also note that DirectX does not affect
Nascar2 at all since it is a DOS game.
