Has anyone tried this?   Does it work?   I'm thinking about installing
NT on my new system.

GPL will run under NT4.0 SP3 or later with the upcoming 1.1 patch.  I
don't think you'll have much luck getting the DOS based N2 to run
however.

Doesn't GPL require DirectX6? NT only supports DirectX3. We have to wait
until the magic OS that will be Windows 2000 for DirectX6 on the NT
platform. But then multi-processor *** will be a reality. (Imagine dual
K7's at 600Mhz on a 200Mhz bus running N3.... Cool!)
Later,
Brian

Impatiently waiting for N3

What, GPL is only using DirectX3 interfaces?! Ugh.

I believe it uses DirectX 5.  If so you can run it with the Nt4 DirectX 5
hack.  I have been playing Falcon 4.0 on NT for quite a while.  Just do a
FTP search for nt4dx5.exe

It's a shame Papy is wasting time and effort on this NT port. I'd much
rather see a Linux server port (rock stable, 24 hour operation like
quake servers provide and so on). GPL under NT...sheesh, it's a dying
platform, people.

Its my understanding that the next versions of both NT and Win9x will
essentially be the same platform, with NT being the "Professional"
version. While I agree that UNIX (Linux, etc.) is a very solid
platform for servers, I don't agree with the "NT is a dying platform"
statement. I run quite a few NT 4.0 servers and if properly set up,
they purr along quite well.

Just MHO..

Not so - an announcement over the past few days has revealed that there
will remain 2 separate versions of Windows in future: see
http://www.compshopper.co.uk/ for the story (you'll need to register
though).

Not anymore. :)  Win98 gets an upgrade here soon, then the consumer version
of "Win2000" will be based on the Win9X code.  :)

NT won't touch N2 but N99 runs great under NT (slower then 9x but if
you're running the 3dfx version you don't notice it)

I have 3Dfx and NT (and a W95 for games); where can I get the 3Dfx
drivers for under NT (I own a Diamond Monster 3D)?
