Your Voodoo3 wouldn't happen to be AGP would it?
I just recently made myself a new Athlon 700 and MS-6167 motherboard
system
with a Geforce DDR, 256mb ram, etc. etc. and initially anything that
used 3D
would run utterly painfully slowly. even Nascar 3 only ran at 15fps!
But after screwing around with assorted drivers for a couple of days I
finally found and installed AMD's latest AGP drivers and whooosh,
everything
just got up and flew. ie: GPL in testing mode full detail is a very
reliable 36fps at 1600x1200. So I think the problem was that without the
AGP drivers installed the computer was unable to use AGP properly.
You can get the latest 4.61 AMD agp driver at
http://www.amd.com/products/cpg/bin/miniport_461.exe
Hopefully that will help.
Grant.
By the way Remco, I think the Athlon has MMX support built in.
