It goes up to 1600x1200(32bpp) in the full version.

I downloaded the Demo and it seems as if th eresolution is at 640X480

Is it possible to change to higher resolutions in the demo or in the full
version of the game?

Yes, it goes up to 1600xsomething, but you can only change it at the Option screen off the main menu, not the Paused menu.
Didn't try the demo, so I don't know if it was disabled or not.
