>     To PROVE or DISPROVE the advantage of the arcade tailgunner view

Pretty easy.  Considering your elevated situation, you can see further
ahead, and further ahead above other cars.  In a draft at Talladega, it can
be the difference between wrecking or not, as you can see ahead before.  It
takes out the luck factor and also the driving skill factor of wreck
avoidance.

Secondly, you can easily see behind you at a better accuracy then in the
***pit.  The FOV over the bottom of the screen is bigger then the FOV of
the mirror.  It's only a couple of more feet, but it's still an advantage
that is unrealistic.

LOL.  It's more about the Aerodynamic drag Dave.

Then again, would you need to take out the driver from inside the***pit?
Where there be one?

Didnt you spend a great deal of time modifying the view from the***pit to
suit your purposes?

I ran 30 races or so with RASCAR, and I won one of them at Pocono.
Was it because I was roof riding?  No.  It was because I only needed
one pitstop when everyone that was faster needed two.  I don't see
where I had the advantage due to my chosen driving view.

However, for me, roof-riding makes road-racing a bit easier.  It
doesn't make me a winner, but it lets me run in the top five
(usually).  Other than that, I get no advantage by roof-riding over
***pit view.

Truty be told, the engine sound is muchh nicer in the***pit, but
I've lerned to ignore the "chewing on plastic" engine sound you get
on the roof.

Judging by the number of cautions we have in RASCAR,  I don't think
forcing***pit on would solve any of our problems.

Exactly! I personally will take a server full of Safety oriented Roof Riders
over Elitist Cagers anyday! It isnt the VIEW that gets you the win, it is
being the best overall driver. If the Cagers need something to use as an
excuse because they got their ass handed to them, then that is fine. As for
the simulated Physics for additional Driver weight behind the car is idiotic
at best. If the added weight IS modeled in the game it is modeled without
VIEW in mind. And if it wasn't figured in then it is a non-factor. So in
summary there is no advantage whether or not the driver weight was
calculated or not since it wasn't factored (or not modeled) for each
individual view.

There's a good idea there.  Make any view available, but code the
physics engine to account for the drag & weight distribution differences
made by where you as a driver choose to sit.  This would be really
great!  Also, don't let views change once the race starts.

They hate cars and car drivers...

ROFL!! Now that was funny!! And no Eldred I was refering to the fact that
they would be in a "cage" with the rollbars around them VS. the people that
"roof Ride". I think the term "Cager" is more applicable here than in
describing people that drive cars in general. :o)
