F1 2001 - Controller stopped working

After yesterdays fun and games I finally managed to get it running.
Today though I have run a couple of quick races earlier on, but on
coming back to it tonight I can't get my MSFF wheel to work with it at
all.

It is set up in the W98 game controllers panel and everything is
working, split-axis all the buttons etc. Go into the game choose MSFF
wheel as the controller, go to race and nothing, no steering no
accelerator/brakes, buttons, nothing.

Tried setting up as a custom controller and still nothing, try to assign
the buttons/axis and nothing is recognised.

Come out of F1 2001 and try GP3, wheel working fine.

This game is just so much hassle :(

DX 8.0

Re-installed off the F1 2001 CD.

Got it working last night by re-installing F1 2001, tried to run it
today and no controls again :(
