Progress with GPL Car Shapes

Have any third party people made progress with modifying the shapes of
the basic GPL cars.
How close are we to getting sports cars or modern F1 cars into the
game.
I guess active wings will never be possible but can other parameters
be modified to give a closer representation of the alternative car
physics.

If someone was working on this, wouldn't it be better to use the N4 engine?
I believe I read somewhere that the N4 engine includes more advanced
aerodynamics and tire physics than GPL.

It would be awesome if they made a GTP style body for the GPL cars...I
wouldn't really have to have changed physics, just a new look would be neat
(I love the GTP bodies for ICR2).  I hear there are a lot of difficulties
modeling body around the tires...maybe clipping issues...not sure.

Bruce Johnson is working on a 50's car set. Early days yet though.
