Which Graphics card should i buy

after upgrading from a cyrix 200 (abysmal frame rates) I now have much
healthier frame rates with my amd k62 350 but inevitably I would still like
more. I have a voodoo 1 card. Would I get better frame rates or detail with
a voodoo 3 or should I but a tnt2 chipset card.
thanks let me know your views

i know the feeling, im still trying to run gpl on a 233 cyrix, just waitin

you are probably best going for a v3 as it will then be more advanced and
will last longer in the future if youn want to upgrade to a faster cpu

I don't know much about motherboards except for Intel motherboards. But if u
have don't have AGP than get the Voodoo3 but if you do have AGP and that is
probably the case get the TNT2 and prefibable the Dynamite Hercules TNT2
Ultra. It is by far the fastest of all cards using the TNT2 chipset. The
Ultra costs more cause it can be overclocked with the need of a fan or
anything else. The card will come with overclocking software and the extra
money u spend for the Ultra version is really worth it.

Forget the TnT2 as it has no 3d now support Glide cards work so much better
V3 2000 should be a giant leap from the V1 along with the K6!!

Uh, what?  TNT2 has 3DNow! support in the Direct3D drivers.  I however am
unsure if the OpenGL drivers benefit from the 3DNow card.

As to "glide cards working so much better", that really depends on the game.
For GPL, most folks will probably get the easiest use out of a Voodoo3 card
of some stripe with the latest drivers.  For most other general *** or
even racing sims, with exception of GPL and N99 (note N3 will support D3D
and Glide), any decent 2D/3D or 3D only card will do fine.  Depends on your
price point you want to spend at.

Once again, GPL DOES support the TNT cards through OpenGL.  Granted, it is a
beta OpenGL rasterizer, but it does work with both TNT and TNT2 although
your mileage may vary depending on the card's manufacturer's drivers it
seems.  IF you are only interested in playing GPL then its probably best to
get a Voodoo3 (if you can wait til Xmas...Voodoo4 (working title) might be
out along with the latest Nvidia offering...and N3 will support D3D too).
If you dont mind experiementation for GPL and/or grabbing a Voodoo2 at the
same time, then its hard to beat a TNT2 for general *** needs to run the
latest software at their highest potential.

3dfx has BETTER 3dNow! support. Especially on slightly lower end
K6-2/3 processors. Nvidia's drivers are ok, but get blown away by V3
on AMD systems.
