GPL-steering unravels thru each lap

by WildOreg » Fri, 12 Feb 1999 04:00:00

I need the cure...

Here it is- AMD-K6 350, Diamond Monster II, Thrustmaster Formula Sprint and
with nearly each lap my steering wheel twitches out of alignment.  In some
cases, to the point where with my real wheel in neutral, the virtual wheel is
cranked far left.

I have read the "glide2x.dll" recommendations.  So far I have not experienced
any loading problems, just steering problems.

Anyone else experience this problem?  (Hobbs, I've read your blasts about
Diamond.. no offense, but please keep your keyboard zipped  d8-}  )

Also, has anyone figured out if you can "save" the calibration configuration so
that you don't need to go through this each time you "suit-up" to drive?

Thanks,

Scott

It sounds as if you have a problem with either your gameport or Sprint.
If GPL continuely asks for re-calibration everytime you start it, it is
because GPL detects major differences between its saved calibration and
the reading of the gameport when it starts.

Have you installed the latest update to the Sprint Windows drivers?
This type of "losing" calibration sounds like the bugs that were in the
initial driver release.  Unfortunately, you will need to download the
full installation update (as Thrustmaster hasn't released a "patch"
fix).  Try ftp://208.129.210.78/pub/library/installs/motorsports_13.exe

What game/sound card do you have?  Have you overclocked your bus?  Are
you using generic or direct in GPL?  When you test in the Win95 game
controllers applet, does it reflect calibration changes?
