Diamond Monster 3DII DX6 problems

I have a small issue with my Voodoo2 card. I recently attempted to update my
drivers to the latest and greatest from Diamonmm.com. Since that update, my
DXDIAG.exe shows my Voodoo2 as being "uncertified". Can anyone help point me
in the right direction for "certified" Diamond Monster 3DII drivers for DX6?

Don't worry about it.  Whether or not a driver is certified by Microsoft
for DirectX, in the case of a major manufacturer like Diamond, is
probably just a matter of timing.  Since these drivers came out well
after DX6 was released, it stands to reason that they would not be
certified since Microsoft wouldn't have had a chance to test them.

These are the official Diamond Monster 3D2 drivers and they work fine
with DirectX 6.0.

Don't worry. "Uncertified" only means that they haven't been tested
yet by Microsoft. Usually they don't cause any problems.

They may work fine with your directx 6.0 but I've had major problems
since installing Powerslide last week. Powerslide installed directx 6.0
onto my computer and none of my direct x games have worked properly
since. I've uninstalled directx 6.0 and tried to reinstall directx 5.0,
with which I had no trouble in the past. Now direct x 5 won't install.
I've tried finding the dlls on the web and it looks like microsoft has
beaten me to it. Try and find directx dlls on the net and all you get is
"this site is down or out or whatever".
Anyone reading this, I desperately need the directx 5 dlls. I've
reinstalled GPL at least ten times. I've tried to reinstall directx 5
from various game cd's. I've download direct.5 from microsoft. None of
these will install directx 5 fully on my computer.
No GPL since Jan. 31st. Heeeeeeeeelllllllllpppppppp.

Try www.3dfx.com

I got mine from there. I just put the glide2x.dll file in my GPL dir and bingo. It
all works. Now if I could just get it to work properly with my Viper 550

The dlls I'm talking about are ddraw.dll, dinput.dll, dsound.dll,
d3d.dll and dplay.dll. These are supposed to be loaded into my windows
system by directx5 but they just don't seem to want to go in there.

Hi Roy

I think you will have a problem trying to install directx5 drivers over
drivers that have already been modified by directx6. It is practically
impossible (in my experience, but YMMV) to locate all the files you will
need to get this to run again. I would personally reformat, because the time
you will spend looking for the right files to alter will take you a lot
longer than the time it takes to reformat your drive. Another good reason to
partition your hdd and keep all the important stuff backed up to it (GPL
files))
Microsoft.public.directx ng is worth a visit, as they have guys there who
deal with this stuff all the time.

Cya on the track
Phil
