Sounds like the top of the***pit is getting cut off.  Try resizing
your screen via your monitor controls.

V2 12MB frame rate indicator doesn't appear in 1024 resolution, but does
appear at 800 or 640.  Anyone else experiencing this?

What rates are you getting?  I can run GPL at 800 with a full field and all
options maxed out and only dip below 36/(now 37) in the pits and at starts.
Based on what N3 is telling me (with all options maxed) , I have worse frame
rates in N3 than in GPL!?!?!  NR1999 and N2 run at full frames at all times.

Thanks for any feedback.

Marc.

marc,

I run 36 fps consistently in GPL with my PIII 450 mhz and I run 30/30 fps in
N3 which i hear is close to max. Do you have any of your textures turned off
??

Kudos to Eric Busch for being a member of the N3 team !

N3 Frame Rates and FR Indicator

Boy do I feel dumb....but thanks!  My 1024 V2 refresh rate must have got
reset during one or another of some recent installs.

Frame rates are still a bit below where I expected given my experience with
GPL....but seem acceptable at 1024 with everything on.  Seems as though
there is really no hit for going to 1024 over 800--sort of like going to 800
over 640 in GPL.  Eric, could you tell us what are the top 3 frame rate
killers in N3?  Hopefully we can short-circuit the interminable discussion
that ensued with GPL where people spent months adjusting graphics options
while all the time it was the number of AI cars that was making the
significant difference.  Any insight you have on this topic would be
appreciated.

By the way, so far, I am very impressed with N3.  As so many have said, it
isn't GPL, but it is state of the art for NASCAR sims and I guess that's all
that really matters at the end of the day.  As long as you are the best,
what could be better is great discussion fodder, but ultimately academic.
Personally I won't even bother trying the arcade settings, but I hope they
work as well or better than NASCAR Revulsion, etc.  If you can manage to
grab the arcader market, but still include the "real" version for us r.a.s.
types, we'll all be forever grateful!  Hopefully you'll sell enough copies
of your title to have the freedom to pursue excellence for upcoming titles.
It isn't a particularly profitable pursuit (the excellence part), but it is
a noble one that many of us appreciate to an extent that can never be
recognised by a simple market transaction (my purchase of a single copy of
N3 or GPL, e.g.).  GPL is by far the most endearing (and often frustrating,
too!) piece of software I have ever used.  And I have a feeling, if no bugs
jump out at me, that N3 is going to be a lot of fun racing.  For me, GPL is
for driving and practising and honing skills and after a gigantic learning
curve, one can hope to race adequately.  N3 is appropriately difficult, but
one can actually participate in races with only a few hours of practise
under their belt.  That is a whole different kind of entertainment.

Thanks to all at Papy for another impressive piece of work.  (As I always
like to remind myself and others....another Papy title that works out of the
box, no sound, graphics or controller problems whatsoever).  That goodness
Charlie fixed the annoying spotter voice volume control "issue" from NR1999!

Marc.

The manual says the #1 fps killer is the track draw ahead option, so
set that to your liking first.  Reading the rest of pg. 13 would
suggest that crowd and asphalt textures would have the next biggest
impact on fps, as well as cars drawn ahead.
