I have seen several people write in regarding the frame rates that they
get.....exactly how do you determine what rate you are actually getting in
N3???

Alt-F toggles the frame rate counter on and off.

You might see something like   24(30) in the upper left of your screen.

That would mean your "average" frame rate is 24, and your "instant" frame
rate is 30.

I usually see 30(31) with my V3-3000 PII400 with EVERYTHING turned on.

Alt-F turns it on for me ... but I can't get it to toggle off again with
out exiting the game.  Can you toggle it back off again?

From the***pit view, you must press F-10 for the counter to be removed.
Make sure to disable it with Alt-F first.

THANK you!  I couldn't find the explanation of the TWO numbers in the manual OR
the readme...
