That explains it! I logged into the Daytona server and ran some practice
laps tonight. YIKES! I'm not used to the car pulling towards the outside
wall...I thought I was at Darlington!

Personally, I found it extremely hard to keep the car in line going down
the straights when I ran some laps on your Daytona server tonight,
especially down the front straight. With the fast setups, I'm stable on
the straights, but have a hard time holding my line through the turns.
Weird, eh?

Ohhh...I love Pocono! At least in N4 I love Pocono. I loved Las Vegas in
N4 too, but hate it in NR2002. I better run some laps and see if the
same thing happens.

John, just going by my own experience, I think you are right about the
lurkers.

Been a "lurker" since late '97 (well, posted maybe 5-6 times since then),
but felt the need to post here 'cause I would rather the race would stay
PW'd (my brief foray on Sierra's servers since getting N2002 haven't been
too pleasant)

Was known on TEN as "RedFarmer", & was in a couple of leagues, CFRL & OSCAR.
Then TEN died, & I changed jobs & didn't have as much free time so kinda
drifted away from simracing, but still lurked around here at times.  I
bought N3, but it (multiplayer without TEN & NROS) just wasn't fun anymore.
GPL & VROC was fun, but I didn't have the time for the steep learning curve
needed to master GPL.  I tried the demo of N4 early on, & agreed with some
here that it was a bit too "skittish" for close online racing without that
dreaded "steep learning curve", & for the first time I did not buy a Papy
product.  Read about the N2002 demo here, tried it, & was immediately
hooked...  again.

Didn't mean to get so long winded, just wanted to let you all know that if
lurkers are welcome, I'll be there.

I ran some laps last night with DGF and Fester at Pocono.  I discovered that
when I hit the brakes for the corner, the car slews to the right.  I kept
hitting the wall for a few laps.  It got better when the tires warmed up, but
it's HELL on cold tires...

Just did a quick check- it's not passworded.  You know what... I wonder
if an Open server can *be* passworded?

"Beware the leader who bangs the drums of war in order to whip the
citizenry into a patriotic fervor, for patriotism is indeed a
double-edged sword. It both emboldens the ***, just as it narrows the
mind.  And when the drums of war have reached a fever pitch and the
*** boils with hate and the mind has closed, the leader will have no
need in seizing the rights of the citizenry. Rather, the citizenry,
infused with fear and blinded by patriotism, will offer up all of their
rights unto the leader and gladly so. How do I know? For this is what I
have done. And I am Caesar."   -- Julius Caesar

Hey Eldred, are you gonna be running any weekend 100% races on your
server like you did for GPL?

I'm not sure I understand why you would run a password-protected open
server when you could just set the entry password and boss password to
the same thing?

Because the server is remote, and there was no way to have it keep running, but
be available to ras...  I hadn't tried hacking the .ini files yet.
