F1RS: Wheel settings

Right, I reckon I've tried every combination there is: What do the F1RS
gurus in here have as their settings for the wheel in-game? Linear steering,
I guess, but for the braking and accelerating? I've tried log and expon.
without a great deal of realism success. I'm tearing (what's left of) my
hair out!
Also, to mimic the real game, should both ABS and the anti-skid thing both
be on 100%?

Er.. Yep I did :)

I use linear for all the settings and have the deadzone to zero on all axis.
I use a MSPP wheel if that makes any difference.
What I would like to see is a way to have less speed sensitivity on the
steering and a slider scale for linearity instead of the three fixed
settings available.

F1RC simulates the 99 season, so you should set the anti skid to zero, even
current F1 doesn't have ABS so that should be off too.

Exponential for steering, and linear for gas and brake. Aids set to O%.

I would love to get past the point of the damned game recognising the split
axis pedals on my Ferrari wheel :(

What vehicle ever inhabiting the planet earth has exponential steering
ratios?  And before you think of one, I am referring to a vehicle with a
steering wheel, not a joystick driven entity (which is apparently coming
soon).  Is this remotely realistic?

Marc.

How many real life cars on the road today have perfectly linear steering? As
you well know, PC steering wheels do not operate like real life steering
wheels, and one PC wheel can operate much differently from the next.
Exponential is basically non-linear steering which almost every sim has an
option.  Adjusting the steering lock in your car setups is another option
which helps a person find a comfortable and accurate wheel setup.

Dude,

BEFORE starting the game, press the pedals down halfway, then start it.
Hold them that way until you've passed the screen where you pick your
driver.  Things will work then, but you have to do this every time you start
the game or you'll lose them.  If you forget, simply exit the game and
re-start with pedals depressed - you don't need to recalibrate.

With regards to the wheel issue - you pretty much gotta use linear if you
want to be able to turn decently.  Practice, practice, practice will
overcome the sensitivity at high speed down straightaways.  This game really
needs a sensitivity slider.

Hi Marc,

My solution was as follows:

1. Run the FFB Racing Wheel Editor software (with any preset going) and
your split-axis will work!!

Thank gawd the software doesn't seem to crash F1RC as it does with N4 on my
system.

Happy racing.
Jason
