T1 Springs

Does anyone know where I can order some new springs for the gas and brake
pedals for my old T1.  Thrustmaster says that the T1's are no longer being
covered by warranty and they won't send parts out, but I'm sure as hell not
going to buy a new wheel just because a 10 cent spring is broken.  Any ideas?
Please email me, 'cause I only get by to check this board about once a week.
Thanks,

Chris Patrick

Tell Thrustmaster that you have a T2 and need replacement springs for
it, and they'll send some out.  They are a little different in size,
but if you also replace your old plastic washers with the new ones,
everything will work properly.  I had accidentally told Thrustmaster
that I had a T2 and needed replacement springs and they sent some out.
Not realizing I had asked for T2 springs before, I emailed them again
and asked for T1 springs.  To my amazement, they said the T1 was no
longer under warranty.  So I checked my old sent email only to realize
that I had in fact originally received T2 springs.

THIS underscores the value of Thomas Enterprises' lifetime warranty on
their TSW and TSW2 wheels.  The TSW products might cost more, but
you'll NEVER have these kinds of headaches.

Good luck in finding replacement springs, Chris -- I recommend trying
a local hardware store like Ace Hardware or True Value.  They usually
have a great selection of seemingly oddball stuff like this.

Just do what I did and buy some strong coil springs, has a better feel than
the original ones. That's what I've been using for a few years now and has
never broken.

Hi CPDRKITEKT,

I submitted a question awhile ago about building my own springs.

Right now, I'm using a wire coat-hanger (bent around a broom handle)
as my brake spring.  I concide it's not as strong as the TM springs,
but it does return the pedal to an upright position :)

The best solution given to me was to get piano wire and
cold-bend it (probably with that same broom handle) to the
same shape as your old spring.  A wire size of #506 was
recommended as well, but you can get any size you wish.
Of course the bigger wire will give you a better feel but
will be harder to bend.

Drive on,
Jason.
