Most controllers now are USB so it's mostly useless unless you use an
older gameport version controller.

At one time I would have said yes, but on further reflection, I'd have
to say no.  I removed mine from my system because it seemed that it
just didn't have the range of calibration that I needed.  For example,
the L4 had a range of 1-50, but plugging the wheel into the soundcard
port gave me a range of 1-100 giving me twice the steering sensitivity
and in games like GPL and N4, that's crucial.

The only time it was a real benefit to me was when the pots started to
go south, the L4 got rid of the quiver, but it's better in the long
run to just replace the pots rather than handicap your driving all the
time...

I LOVED my PDPI when I used to run it...but then my new Mobo that I bought
had no ISA slots so it is sitting in the corner...A lot of people never
noticed anything with the PDPI because they didn't know how how to setup the
game to use the PDPI drivers instead of the default *** drivers...the
smoothness and precision were so awesome when I ran it, I wouldn't pass it
up if I were you...With a modern system, it just means you can run more
graphics because the CPU isn't tied up with polling the wheel.

If you have a treasured 'legacy' controller like my ancient and honorable
ECCI, yes, Yes, YES!  Otherwise, prolly not.
