Why won't GPL 1.2 update my install???

I dragged out my old GPL disc after many many months away, and tried
to do a 1.2 update. I did a full version (hard drive) install of GPL -
The patch tries to do the upgrade, gets to 49% and says that my
version is not a valid version and cannot upgrade!  I have version
1.0.0.0.

What's up with that?  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You probably are using the wrong patch for the version you have.
You need to make sure you use the US version patch with the US version
of the game, the UK patch with the UK version, etc.

Another cause of this is having your gpl.exe modified with some add-on
or something of that nature. In this case, copy your original gpl.exe
from the cd to your hard drive and then try the patch.

There is also a virus that can cause this.  I think it is named cih.

I had the same problem and copying the original gpl.exe worked for me.
